Opera 8.5mm Control Safe 100m
The Opera is the thinnest and lightest rope in its category, with the same triple certification (single, half, twin) as the Joker, but with even greater thinness. It's the choice for climbers who want to maximize weight savings and fluidity without sacrificing versatility.
It's an extremely thin, very fluid, and pleasant-to-handle rope.
Rope Features and Standards
Unicore technology permanently bonds the core and sheath. In practical terms, this means that if the sheath is damaged, it remains in place instead of bunching up (sock effect), allowing the rope to remain usable during a rappel or at the end of a pitch. The Dry Cover treatment in this version protects the sheath from moisture and abrasion, while maintaining a particularly thin and supple feel.
- Type: Single, half, and twin rope.
- Diameter: 8.5 mm.
- Weight: 48 g/m.
- Standards: Certified EN 892 and UIAA for single, half, and twin configurations.
- Treatment: Dry Cover Control Safe + Unicore technology.
100 m: The length for onsight, travel, and very long routes
At 100 m, the Opera is ideal for onsight lead climbing and for travel: its small bulk and lightness make it a companion of choice when every gram and every centimeter in your pack counts. This length also allows you to tackle the longest routes without changing ropes, while leaving room for multiple re-cuts as it gets used.
This Control Safe version includes a mid-rope marking, a valuable indicator for securing rappels and managing the rope on long descents.
The 100 m also comes in a Golden Dry version, for those who prioritize enhanced water repellency over the Control Safe marker.
And for mountaineering and multi-pitch climbing?
For mountaineering and multi-pitch climbing, both as a single and double rope, the Opera is also available in 50 m and 60 m, in its Golden Dry version. Unlike the Joker, which is a bit heavy and thick for comfortable double rope use, the Opera handles very well in this configuration.
Available lengths and climbing characteristics
- 50 m: Best in Golden Dry version, for mountaineering and multi-pitch climbing, both as a single and double rope.
- 60 m: Also recommended in Golden Dry, for the same uses in committing terrain.
- 80 m: Ideal for onsight lead climbing and for travel, thanks to its small bulk and lightness.
- 100 m: Available in Golden Dry or Dry Cover Control Safe, with mid-rope marking for added safety on very long routes.
Please note, not all lengths benefit from the same treatment: Golden Dry is offered in 50 m, 60 m, while the 80 m and 100 m Control Safe are in Dry Cover.
