Opera 8.5 Unicore Dry Cover 80m
The Opera is the thinnest and lightest rope in its category, with the same triple rating (single, half, twin) as the Joker, taken even further in thinness. It's the choice of climbers who want to save as much weight and gain as much smoothness as possible without sacrificing versatility.
It is an extremely thin rope, very smooth and pleasant to handle.
Rope features and standards
Unicore technology permanently bonds the core and sheath. In practice, this means that if the sheath is damaged, it stays in place instead of bunching up (sock effect), keeping the rope usable during a rappel or at the end of a pitch. The Dry Cover treatment on this version protects the sheath against moisture and abrasion, while keeping an especially thin and supple sheath to the touch.
- Type: single, half and twin rope.
- Diameter: 8.5 mm.
- Weight: 48 g/m.
- Standards: certified EN 892 and UIAA for single, half and twin configurations.
- Treatment: Dry Cover + Unicore technology.
A rope designed for onsighting and travel
In 80 m, the Opera is ideal for onsight lead climbing and for travel: its small pack size and light weight make it a top companion when every gram and every centimeter in your bag counts.
Also available in 100 m in Control Safe and in 50 m and 60 m in Golden Dry.
What about alpinism and multi-pitch routes?
In 50 m and 60 m, in its Golden Dry version, the Opera becomes a great tool for alpinism and multi-pitch routes, both as a single rope and as a half rope. Unlike the Joker, which is a bit heavy and thick for comfortable use as a half rope, the Opera handles very well in this configuration.
Available lengths and climbing characteristics
- 50 m: best in the Golden Dry version, for alpinism and multi-pitch routes, both as a single and half rope.
- 60 m: also recommended in Golden Dry, for the same uses on committing terrain.
- 80 m: ideal for onsight lead climbing and for travel, thanks to its small pack size and light weight.
- 100 m: offered in Golden Dry or in Dry Cover Control Safe, with a middle marking for added safety on very long routes.
Note that not all lengths get the same treatment: Golden Dry is offered in 50 m, 60 m and 100 m, while the 80 m and the 100 m Control Safe are in Dry Cover.
