Corsa Alpine Black
Corsa Alpine Black – The ultralight ice axe that defined a generation of mountaineers
The CAMP Corsa Alpine Black is the original version of the iconic Corsa Alpine, a model that became a benchmark among mountaineers and ski tourers looking for an exceptionally lightweight, reliable and versatile ice axe.
Its concept is simple yet highly effective: combining an ultra-light 7075 aluminium shaft with a genuine NiCrMo (Chromoly) steel head to deliver excellent performance on hard snow and ice while keeping weight to an absolute minimum.
Unlike fully aluminium ice axes, the Corsa Alpine Black provides significantly better placements when conditions become more demanding. Its progressive pick, tapering from 4 mm to 3 mm, penetrates compact snow and ice with ease, while the slightly curved shaft improves comfort and efficiency on steeper terrain.
Whether you’re tackling glacier routes, snowy ridges, classic alpine climbs or ski touring adventures, it remains one of the finest compromises between light weight, safety and climbing performance.

Our opinion at 4c+
The Corsa Alpine Black remains an outstanding choice for mountaineers looking for a lightweight ice axe with the security of a genuine steel head. Considerably more capable than a fully aluminium model while remaining much lighter than a traditional mountaineering axe, it is perfectly suited to summer alpine climbing, glacier travel and ski touring. It’s the kind of gear you barely notice in your pack… until you’re very glad you brought it.
